It was the practice in Britain in the eighteenth-century for the king's pressman to force young men to serve on the king's ships. 'The Pets' pop group are impressed as Jack Tars onto a British clipper that is importing tea into Boston harbour in America. The American colonists are up in arms over the excessive import tax on the tea. Some of them disguised as Mohawk Indians, board the clipper and then tip the entire cargo of tea overboard into the sea.
The pop group gig about the goings-on:

Lyrics - Boston Tea Party

Polly put the kettle on,
Polly put the kettle on.
Polly put the kettle on,
For 'THE BOSTON TEA PARTY.'

Lots of merry larks,
The Americans disguised as Mohawks.
Over the British they've scored,
Tipped their cargo of tea overboard.

Polly put the kettle on,
Polly put the kettle on.
Polly put the kettle on,
For 'THE BOSTON TEA PARTY.'

On the ocean borne,
To sip in the morn.
Then go for a swim,
And dunk a biscuit in.

Polly put the kettle on,
Polly put the kettle on.
Polly put the kettle on,
For 'THE BOSTON TEA PARTY.'

No dainty cup to drink the tea up,
This tea party is in the briny.

No sugar but salt,
Is a bit of a fault.
And tea for two,
A fishy brew.

Polly put the kettle on,
Polly put the kettle on.
Polly put the kettle on,
For 'THE BOSTON TEA PARTY.'

NOW IT'S PLAIN TO SEE,
WHY AMERICANS PREFER COFFEE TO TEA.

Polly put the kettle on,
Polly put the kettle on.
Polly put the kettle on,
And we'll all have SEA.
