In 1995 I began writing ‘In the Picture’ Fantasies as SCREENPLAYS.

Quote:
‘Children treat television like a member of the family and the average child watches for almost two-and-half hours a day’, say researchers.

My research revealed that only drama written for the theatre stage was available to children.

I borrowed books from the public library on writing for television and from 1995 until 2005 I continued writing the fantasies in screenplay format.

In 2005, as I was already in my seventies, I decided to self-publish the screenplays and circulate them to secondary-schools where they were well received.
Quote:
Andy Smith, head of Performing Arts, Ashmole School, Southgate.
‘They are a great hit with the pupils.’

In 2009 I began writing 17 titles ‘In the Picture’ Fantasies series, as well as Once Upon A Galaxy, in PROSE, to extend the readership beyond the school curriculum.

The fantasies portray today's children and teenagers living in North London.
I believe the fantasies convey their interests:

A film director and a teenage pop-group with lots of song lyrics.

British historical characters and quirky animals are included in a comedy genre.

All the fantasies are written as though a film is being shot.
Chapters are called 'Takes' and 'Set' indicates the location of the action.

I comically use the fact that I’m a grandmother throughout the series and as ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ from the musical of that name, I prevail on the BIG BAD WOLF, a.k.a the grandmother-gobbler from the story of ‘Red Riding Hood’, to change his spots.
